The tenth reference (and first for 2018) on Iberian Juke comes from the unknown (until now) producer Naocape, new signing for the label and a kind of DJ Paypal “iberican style”. The only data we have about him is that he was born in Valencia and he loves paella! Our first contact with Naocape, at that time under a different alias, was through the 2017 #warjuke, an extension to footwork from the famous grime producer’s war #wardub that took place in 2013. A few demos later, ‘Magical Sunshine’ started to took shape…
‘Magical Sunshine’ is composed of five original tracks and was created between the summers of 2016 and 2017. The concept behind the EP is to put emphasis in creating a melodic footwork, with clear influences from jazz, bossa nova or soul but at the same time euphoric and danceable, somehow, looking to bring together different music generations and trying to find similarities and common grounds.
‘Bankroll’, the track opening the EP, is maybe the most directed to the floor, with a 4x4 format that includes a vocal sample repeating all over the track and accompanied by a soft piano melody giving it a warm touch. The brazilian influence and aspect on the release is reflected in ‘Love’, where typical elements from this style like guitar and percussion are integrated into a footwork structure at 160bpms. In ‘Clouds’ and ‘Equinox’ the soul and jazzy speech of the EP is kept, with more repetitive vocals interwoven with saxophone samples and piano melodies. ‘Magical Sunshine’ closes the release in a masterful way, an ode to the warm summer nights and the ideal complement for a beautiful sunset with the best company. Five tracks to dance but also to enjoy in the peace of your sofa.

La décima referencia y primera del 2018 para Iberian Juke viene de la mano del desconocido productor Naocape, nuevo fichaje del sello y una especie de DJ Paypal a la ibérica. Lo único que sabemos de él es que nació en Valencia y le encanta la paella! Nuestro primer contacto con Naocape, que en aquel momento se encontraba bajo otro alias, fue a través de #warjuke de 2017, una extensión al footwork de la famosa guerra de productores grime #wardub que tuvo lugar en el año 2013. Unas cuantas demos después, ‘Magical Sunshine’ tomaba forma…
‘Magical Sunshine’ está compuesto de 5 temas originales y fue creado entre los veranos de 2016 y 2017. El concepto detrás del EP es poner énfasis en crear un footwork melódico, con influencias claras del jazz, la bossa nova o el soul pero que a la vez fuera eufórico y bailable, en cierta manera, buscando acercar y unir generaciones musicales distintas y encontrar los puntos que tienen en común.
‘Bankroll’, que abre el EP, es quizás el tema más pistero de todos, con un formato 4x4 que incluye un sample vocal que se repite a lo largo del track y que es acompañado de una melodía de piano que le da un toque cálido. La influencia y el aire brasileño del release se refleja en ‘Love’, donde se integran elementos característicos de este estilo como la guitarra y la percusión con la estructura de un tema footwork a 160bpms. En ‘Clouds’ y ‘Equinox’ se mantiene el discurso soul y jazzy de todo el EP con vocales repetitivos que se entrelazan con samples de saxofón y melodías de piano. ‘Magical Sunshine’ cierra de forma magistral el lanzamiento, una oda a las noches cálidas de verano y el complemento ideal a una puesta de sol en la mejor compañía. Cinco temas para bailar pero también para disfrutar en la tranquilidad de tu sofá.
