For the first reference of the new ‘Iberian Juke Free Series’ (IJF) we count on some usual suspects for the label. After delivering our sixth reference ‘Tell Me The Truth’ earlier this year, and following their recent release ‘Ice’ for the british label Good Street Records, the duo from Valencia Rootless formed by Tony and Saci is back in business with ‘Hubo un lugar’, in collaboration with the also Valencian Atari Hanzo.

Strongly influenced by the EP ‘Nuevas Bulerías’ from Ria Ekin (IJ004), Rootless and Atari Hanzo decided also to experiment with samples, melodies and rhythms taken from the flamenco sound. ‘Hubo un lugar’, composed of two original tracks, a vocal version alongside mc Ebano and two remixes by the Andalusian artists BSN Posse and Pablo Dread, the EP pretends to settle the mix of flamenco music and footwork under the name ‘flamenwork’. Vocal samples were taken from two mythical flamenco songs, created by two of flamenco’s masterminds, ‘Como el Agua’ by Camarón and ‘Hubo un Lugar’ by Diego El Cigala.
